“Health and well-being among humans, animals, and the environment are inextricably linked. A deep emotional connection between humans and the natural world is needed to sustain and fulfill human life.”
This quote from Dr. Elizabeth Strand, Founding Director of Veterinary Social Work at the University of Tennessee College, says what we all understand intuitively. We are nature. We are part of it, not apart from it. Our connection to nature and animals is essential for emotional wellness, and a powerful and proven tool for results.
My practice is not necessarily a specific framework. It’s more a way of effectively integrating our human, animal, and nature connections into the healing process to facilitate personal discovery, growth, and positive change.
Partnering with my amazing therapy dogs, Raphe and Trulee, I feed my lifelong passion for helping children and their families manage the challenges of today’s uniquely complicated world. In integrating my passions for animals and nature, I am forever in awe of the remarkable ability for animal and nature assisted therapy to breathe life and love into the souls of those in need.
